Election Week Raises Issues
TV3 last night posted another 'secret tape' from National Party leading man Bill English in which he claims "I am a bit worried about this whole Obama and Europe thing just because there is a limited effectiveness in being moralistic about international relations, and Europe has turned out to be particularly ineffective even in its own back yard"
This of course raises issues for all of us interested in Europe and the European Union, as well as the potential effects of NZ's international relations policy after the general election this Saturday.
NCRE director Martin Holland has this t0 say in reply to this news story:
"Securing peace in Europe in the last 63 years has been based upon the moral persuasion of the European Union, a remarkable record, and something that New Zealand can learn from"
